Okay, so, I figure I have some space to talk about my major in college. It’s a fairly recent major added to the University of Arizona curriculum within the last couple of years. It’s called “Information Science, Technology, and Art” or ISTA. It’s an interdisciplinary major focusing on technology. It mixes in classes about research methods, art, and various humanities, along with a number of classes geared towards video game design. Depending on the specific classes you take, along with your gen eds and minors, the major could help you become a researcher, visual artist, or in my case, a video game designer. It’s pretty cool, and if you’re going to college in AZ and want to do anything creative with computers, check it out, it’s probably better for you than a straight Comp Sci degree.
And if you’re a U of A student interested in learning more about technology, the ISTA department hosts a colloquium series on Mondays at noon during the fall and spring semesters. Check it out if your schedule allows.
